Sid Seixeiro and Meredith Shaw released from Breakfast Television

Sid Seixeiro and Meredith Shaw have been released as the hosts of the Citytv’s Breakfast Television (BT).

BT personality Devo Brown shared the news with viewers Monday morning that the hosting duo were no longer with the show.

“They brought us plenty of great conversations, laughs, and unforgettable moments. We’re grateful for everything they shared with all of us,” Brown told viewers. “We wish them the very best in what comes next. We know change is never easy, but for over 35 years Breakfast Television has grown and evolved to bring you the best to start your day. So stay tuned, we have some exciting plans in the works that we’ll share with you very, very soon.”

Seixeiro joined BT in early 2021, arriving from Sportsnet radio and TV simulcast, Tim & Sid, which he’d hosted alongside Tim Micallef since 2011.

Initially paired with Dina Pugliese, Shaw took over as Seixeiro’s co-host in September 2023, following Pugliese’s departure from the show.

“Confirming my last day at @breakfasttv was this past Friday,” Seixeiro wrote in a post to X on Monday morning. “Thanks for letting me into your homes and for being so kind. Also, thank you to @Rogers for over 13 years of support. They allowed me incredible freedom on-air and I’m grateful. God bless. We’ll talk soon.”

In her own post to Instagram, Shaw wrote that she was proud of the television the duo had made.

“Not gonna lie, this is hard. Deep breath. Thank you for welcoming me into your homes & hearts,” wrote Shaw. “Cohosting @breakfasttelevision with @sid_seixeiro has been such an honour and I’m so proud of the television we have made. Thank you Sid, for being a tremendous teammate and friend.”

A Rogers Sports & Media spokesperson told Broadcast Dialogue that more details about Breakfast Television’s “evolution” are forthcoming.

“We’re invested in Breakfast Television’s success and leadership in Canadian morning television, and we’ll announce exciting new plans in the coming weeks. As part of this evolution, we have parted ways with Sid Seixeiro and Meredith Shaw. We thank them for sharing their passion and energy with audiences every morning and wish them both the very best.”

Last month, Citytv released Tracy Moore and Cheryl Hickey from the show. The duo had signed on to host a new fifth national hour of BT, which the network has since scrubbed plans for.
