SiriusXM Canada expands advertising division

SiriusXM Canada is expanding its advertising division, launching SiriusXM Media Canada, which will serve as the company’s exclusive cross-platform ad sales representative, including the SiriusXM Podcast Network in Canada.

Operating out of SiriusXM Canada’s office in Toronto, the team will be led by Vice-President of Sales Jon Hales, who joined the Canadian operation earlier this year. Hales was formerly Chief Growth Officer at DAX/Global North America and spent seven years at Spotify, serving as Country Manager for Canada for four years.

SiriusXM says the new advertising division will provide Canadian marketers and advertisers exclusive access to SiriusXM platforms, programs, and publishers under its umbrella, paired with an end-to-end tech stack from its subsidiary AdsWizz.

As of October, SiriusXM’s burgeoning podcast slate, including Smartless with Will Arnett, Jason Bateman and Sean Hayes – one of the most-listened to podcasts in Canada; Call Her Daddy with Alex Cooper; Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend; Crime Junkie; The Mel Robbins Podcast, and hundreds of additional titles, is exclusively available to advertisers via SiriusXM Media Canada. It will also rep thousands of additional podcasts via AdsWizz’s Podcast Marketplace, which includes networks like PodcastOne, Barstool Sports, The New York Times, and the Washington Post.

In addition to podcast inventory, SiriusXM Media Canada will offer audio advertising opportunities across its satellite radio network and the SiriusXM Streaming Network, encompassing Pandora [which is still only available in the U.S. due to licensing restrictions] and SoundCloud.

“We’re very excited to join the largest audio company in North America and offer Canadian advertisers access to exclusive, impactful, measurable audio advertising opportunities connecting brands to targeted audiences,” said Hales, in a company announcement. “Our dedicated, service-focused team, combined with rich content integrations and the biggest names and brands in audio entertainment is what sets us apart.”
