MBC to acquire three stations from Rogers Sports & Media

My Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) has announced it’s entered into an agreement with Rogers Sports & Media to acquire two of its stations in Southwestern Ontario and another in the Ottawa Valley.

Pending CRTC approval, MBC will take over 101.3 CKOT-FM and 107.3 CJDL-FM Tillsonburg, and 92.3 CJET-FM Smiths Falls.

101.3 CKOT-FM is currently branded as Easy 101.3 and carries and carries an Adult Contemporary format, while CJDL-FM carries Rogers’ Country brand and CJET-FM the JACK FM format.

MBC said in a company announcement that the acquisition will strengthen its position as a leading media provider in each region, adding value for listeners and advertisers by broadening the range of content, local news coverage and expanding community involvement.

“The addition of these stations strengthens our regional coverage in both Southwestern Ontario and The Ottawa Valley,” said MBC President Jon Pole. “CKOT-FM and CJDL-FM will fill a void between our St. Thomas and Simcoe Operations, and CJET-FM will make a perfect combo with 88.1 myFM in Perth. We’re excited to continue to expand our local news coverage and community involvement in Smiths Falls and Tillsonburg. We appreciate that Rogers Sports & Media shared our vision for these markets, and made this deal possible.”

MBC currently owns and operates 19 radio stations and digital news sites across Ontario. Upon commission approval of all pending acquisitions, it will grow its number of stations to 26.
