8.3M Canadians tune in to Jays’ ALCS win

Sportsnet has released audience data for Game 7 of the American League Championship Series between the Toronto Blue Jays and Seattle Mariners, revealing a total of 8.3M Canadians tuned in as Jeff Hoffman struck out Julio Rodriguez for the game’s final out.

An average of 6 million Canadians watched the Jays punch their ticket to the World Series across Sportsnet and Sportsnet+, breaking a previous ALCS final audience record for Game 6 in 2015, which averaged 5.1 million viewers as the Kansas City Royals beat Toronto to advance.

Sportsnet says viewers started watching early, with an average of 1.9 million viewing the Blue Jays Central pregame. An average of 2.8 million fans continued to watch postgame as Vladimir Guerrero Jr. was crowned MVP of the series.

The entire ALCS averaged 4.4 million viewers with 15.9 million Canadians tuning in at some point. Overall, the MLB postseason on Sportsnet is averaging 1.4 million viewers, reaching 17.4 million Canadians to date.

Game 1 of the World Series is set for Friday, Oct. 24, with Blue Jays Central starting at 6:30 p.m. ET / 3:30 p.m. PT on Sportsnet.
