Tracy Tong to helm 11 p.m. Global News in Toronto, Montreal, Halifax, N.B.

Global News has announced that Tracy Tong will join the network as the 11 p.m. anchor for Global Toronto, Global Montreal, Global Halifax and Global New Brunswick. Tong, who’ll take up the multi-market anchor/producer role on June 4, succeeds Crystal Goomansingh, who has been appointed Europe Bureau Chief for Global News.

Tong began her career with Global Toronto as an editorial assistant in 2010, but went on to reporting stints with CP24 and Citytv. For the last four years, she’s been a videojournalist and fill-in anchor with CTV News Toronto.

“Tracy is a talented and well-respected broadcaster with strong editorial vision,” said Kenton Boston, Vice President, National and Network News, Global News, in a release. “We are thrilled to welcome her back to the Global News family where she started her career fresh out of journalism school.”

Tong is an RTDNA winner, three-time RTDNA nominee, and 2018 Canadian Screen Award nominee for Best Reportage, Local.
