Susan Reade announces retirement from Stingray Radio

Susan Reade, the Director of Sales for Stingray Radio in Edmonton, Calgary and Kamloops, has announced she’ll retire at the end of October.

Reade started her broadcasting career at 630 CHED Edmonton in 1985 after graduating from NAIT’s Radio and Television Arts program. She co-hosted the morning show as “Janet from Another Planet” for four years, before discovering she had a talent for sales.

She went on to hold Account Executive roles with Rawlco Radio and Standard Radio, including serving as the Retail Sales Manager at Edmonton’s EZ Rock 104.9 (CFMG-FM).

That was followed by a three-year stint as the General Sales Manager and Station Manager at Rawlco’s Magic 99 (CIUP-FM) in the market, and then a year-long stint as Sales Supervisor at Rogers. She went on to spend more than seven years with Bell Media Edmonton as GSM, before joining Stingray in 2018.

Reade signed on with the company as GM/GSM in Edmonton, later moving into the role of Director of Sales for Edmonton & Calgary in 2023. She added Kamloops in 2026.

One of her most recent efforts was helping launch and ensure the success of Edmonton all-sports station, Sports 1440 (CJKR-AM).

In an internal memo announcing her upcoming retirement, Craig Letawsky, VP, Strategic Operations, and Devon Tschritter, VP of Sales, Western Canada Major Markets, said throughout her tenure, Reade “has consistently delivered outstanding results, driving performance, and fostering a culture focused on winning.”

“Susan is known throughout the industry for her relentless energy, creativity, competitive spirit, and ability to deliver exceptional results,” they continued. “Whether facing a challenge, pursuing a new opportunity, or rallying a team toward a goal, Susan consistently demonstrates what it means to be a true leader and competitor. She has an incredible ability to recognize potential in others and help develop that potential into success. Many sales professionals and leaders throughout the industry can trace part of their growth and achievements back to her mentorship, coaching, and unwavering support.”

Stingray says over the next three months, Reade will focus on the Edmonton and Kamloops markets, ensuring their teams are set up for continued success, before she sets off on a retirement adventure in Spain in November.
