Scott Johns, VP of Revenue Management & Local Sales, at Stingray, has announced his retirement after four decades in media.

Johns joined Stingray in 2016 as Director of Revenue Management and Local Sales, and was elevated to VP in 2020.
In an internal memo provided to Broadcast Dialogue, Stingray Radio President Steve Jones credited Johns with helping guide the company through a challenging time.
“Over the past eight years, Scott Johns has guided our local sales and revenue management initiatives. Under his leadership, our sales teams navigated some of the most difficult challenges the radio business has ever faced,” wrote Jones. “Scott helped us build a trio of robust revenue streams in radio, digital, and retail audio, and he has been a valued mentor and colleague to our sales teams and leaders from coast to coast.”
“After long consideration and 39 years in the business, Scott has decided that it’s time to retire from Stingray Radio and the industry this fiscal year,” Jones continued. “I know this was not an easy decision for Scott as he has great passion for this business, and he is deeply committed to our team. While we are excited for Scott as he will soon get to spend more time travelling, skiing, and enjoying time at the cottage with his family (and dog), we will miss his wealth of experience, calm demeanor, deep understanding of data, and strong hand at the wheel of sales.”
Johns will stay on in his current role as Stingray looks to recruit his successor.
After graduating from York University and then obtaining a Diploma in Marketing from Ryerson, Johns started his career as a media buyer at Saffer Advertising. He went on to work at Rogers Sports & Media’s 680 News (CFTR-AM) Toronto for 13 years as an account executive, going on to join Newstalk 1010 (CFRB-AM) as General Sales Manager. He eventually ascended to the role of Director of Revenue Management – Radio at Bell Media, before leaving to join Stingray.
