New Metric Media launches ‘shozerTV’ YouTube comedy channel

New Metric Media is launching a new direct-to-consumer YouTube channel that will feature comedy across scripted and unscripted series, podcasts, stand-up specials and sketch.

The Toronto-based production company says shozerTV aims to fill a gap in the market “by creating a hub for unpretentious, sharp comedy that appeals to hosers 18 to 40 around the world.”

Along with New Metric series What Would Sal Do? and Bria Mack Gets A Life, Lionsgate is licensing more than 20 titles to stream on shozerTV, including Running Wilde starring Will Arnett, Van Wilder: Party Liaison starring Ryan Reynolds, and Zack and Miri Make A Porno, starring Seth RogenshozerTV has also licensed stand-up titles from Toronto-based producers Comedy Bar and Macaw Studios, starring comics like Sandra Battaglini,  Jeewan Gill, Ali Hassan, Hisham Kelati, Dave Merheje and Mike Rita. New Metric’s previously-announced The Eh-List stand-up specials are currently in production and slated to join the channel in 2026.

Additionally, the channel will feature digital-first originals from up-and-coming creators, taking New Metric back to its YouTube roots where Letterkenny first gained a following as LetterkennyProblems.

“Comedy is one of Canada’s greatest exports and we are excited to give it a centralized home for the world to enjoy on shozerTV,” said New Metric CEO & Founder, Mark Montefiore, in an announcement. “From scripted television and live touring to standup and podcasts, having a focused channel in shozerTV allows New Metric to elevate Canadian talent beyond our borders as we continue to build one of the best comedy entertainment studios in the world.”

Podcasts pillar of YouTube offering

Video podcasts will also make up a key pillar of the YouTube offering, including the first three original New Metric podcast titles heading into production next year – Legit Stupid, Dicey History, and a new podcast from Bria Mack Gets A Life creator Sasha Leigh Henry and producer Tania Thompson. Additionally, The Town Show, from Vancouver podcast studio Kelly&Kelly – which New Metric recently acquired – is rolling out on the channel with more titles from the studio to come.

New Metric says it has struck a new agreement with Acast to distribute and monetize a selection of its owned and original podcast titles across key podcast networks, including Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and Amazon Music.

The company says it’s actively looking to acquire new content for the channel.

“The launch of shozerTV is the next step in New Metric’s evolution of delivering Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) products to the market,” said COO Jeff Hersh. “This launch will leverage the experience, data and audience that we’ve built through our existing DTC businesses across e-commerce, video games and live touring.”
