New Metric Media – the Toronto production studio behind comedic series like Letterkenny, Shoresy, and Children Ruin Everything – has acquired Kelly&Kelly, the boutique Vancouver creative studio best known for podcasts like the award-winning Broomgate: A Curling Scandal and Let’s Make a Rom-Com.
As first reported by Deadline, Kelly&Kelly – which was founded in 2016 by CBC Radio alumni Chris Kelly and Pat Kelly – will join the New Metric team on Nov. 1, moving further into video podcasting and unscripted content alongside New Metric’s Stand-up & Podcast division, which was launched earlier this year.
“Ten years ago, we started Kelly&Kelly with a simple mission: to make entertainment that didn’t add to the noise — the kind of stuff we actually wanted to consume,” the studio wrote in a post to LinkedIn on Monday. “Since then, we’ve made satirical videos, experimental TV shows, and a lot of podcasts — chat shows, scripted dramas, hybrid comedy/sci-fi docu-series, kids’ series, and even true crime (looking at you, Dirtbag Climber).”
“Now, a decade later, we’re thrilled to share that we’re joining forces with the incredible team at New Metric Media. We’ve long admired the amazing shows they’ve produced — from Letterkenny and Shoresy to Bria Mack Gets a Life, and Children Ruin Everything. We couldn’t be more excited for what’s next,” the statement continued.
The investment announcement is New Metric Media’s second this month, announcing earlier in October it was acquiring a stake in Good Walk Entertainment, the L.A. prodco run by former Comedy Central President Ken Alterman and the network’s former Head of Content Sarah Babineau.
