The Manitoba Day of Caring Radiothon raised more than $376,000 in support of the Canadian Red Cross 2025 Manitoba Wildfires Appeal on Thursday, with matching donations from both the federal and provincial governments.
Manitoba remains under a province-wide state of emergency, as the majority of the province continues under very high fire danger. The Manitoba Wildfire Service continues to respond to 27 active wildfires across the province. As of June 5, the Canadian Red Cross had registered about 18,000 evacuees.
More than 30 radio stations participated, including those owned by Golden West Broadcasting, Pattison Media, Bell Media, Corus Entertainment, Evanov Communications, and Native Communications Inc.
Listeners can still participate through the weekend by donating to the Red Cross, texting the word RADIO to 20222 to donate $10, and sharing via social media using the hashtag #MBDayofCaring.
