Canadian Screen Awards winners: Documentary, Factual, Lifestyle & Reality

The 2024 Canadian Screen Award winners from the Documentary, Factual, Lifestyle, and Reality categories were unveiled Thursday afternoon.

The afternoon also celebrated Special Award recipients Marilyn Denis, who was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award by her son Adam Wylde, while Brenda Tremblay, on behalf of Sudbury’s Science North, along with director David Lickley, were presented with the Sustainable Production Award for feature documentary Jane Goodall: Reasons for Hope.

Denis, who stepped away from CTV’s The Marilyn Denis Show one year ago after 13 seasons, was also named Best Host, Talk Show or Entertainment News, while the show claimed the award for Best Talk Series. John Keffer won Best Direction, Lifestyle or Information for its “Final Farewell” episode.

Canada’s Drag Race: Canada vs. The World led wins with six, including Best Host or Presenter, Factual, Reality/Competition for Brooke Lynn Hytes, Brad Goreski, and Traci Melchor. Prime Video feature documentary Mr. Dressup: The Magic of Make-Believe picked up five awards, while Citytv’s Black Community Mixtapes swept three categories and Crave docuseries Thunder Bay secured two, including Best Factual Series.
