Acadia Broadcasting announces senior leadership appointments across digital and news

Acadia Broadcasting has announced three senior leadership appointments that the broadcaster says reinforces its commitment to digital innovation and community storytelling across its portfolio of radio stations, digital platforms, and local news brands.

The company has hired Jeff Irwin as Regional Manager & Digital Media Strategist for New Brunswick, appointed Jessica DeMello as Director of News & Community Content, and promoted longtime team member John Ongaro to Director of Programming.

Irwin joins Acadia following nearly two decades with Blackburn Media, where he most recently served as Operations & Sales Manager. In his new capacity as Regional Manager & Digital Media Strategist for New Brunswick, starting Sept. 21, Irwin will oversee local operations while collaborating with revenue and digital teams to expand digital advertising and client solutions.

In the newly-created role of Director of News & Community Content, DeMello will oversee editorial standards, content innovation, and newsroom teams across Acadia’s radio stations, websites, newsletters, and digital publishing platforms. She brings a background that includes previous roles at CPAC, CBC, CTV and The Globe and Mail, where she was most recently Deputy Head of Programming & Audience.

Ongaro steps into the Director of Programming role after more than 15 years with Acadia Broadcasting and 36 years in the broadcast industry. Most recently leading operations in Thunder Bay and supporting multi-market programming, Ongaro will now guide strategic direction for the company’s on-air products, focusing on talent development and audience engagement.

“These appointments represent an important investment in the future of our company and the communities we serve,” said Shelley Snodgrass, President of Acadia Broadcasting, in an announcement. “Jeff, Jessica, and John each bring impressive experience, proven leadership, and a deep commitment to local media. Their expertise will help us continue strengthening our brands, supporting our teams, and delivering meaningful connections between audiences, advertisers, and communities.”
