Prime Video has unveiled its roster of on-air talent for the 2026-27 season of NHL on Prime, featuring a new French-language broadcast team as the streamer acquires French sub-licensing rights to NHL games in Canada for the first time.
For NHL on Prime in English, the returning cast is led by play-by-play announcer John Forslund, alongside analysts Jody Shelley in the booth and Thomas Hickey between the benches, with Andi Petrillo reporting rink side. Anchoring Wednesday Night Hockey is Adnan Virk alongside analyst Blake Bolden and Hockey Hall of Famer Chris Pronger, who is exclusive to NHL on Prime this season. Veteran broadcaster Christine Simpson returns, lending her voice to special features, in addition to Shane Hnidy and Tyson Nash, who are back for select games.
For French language customers, Prime Video brings broadcaster Alain Crête out of retirement (who left RDS after 30 years in June) to share play-by-play duties with Michaël Roy alongside analyst and former NHL defenceman Jean-Luc Grand-Pierre. Maxime Lalonde, who is currently heard on BPM Sports Network, joins as host for Wednesday Night Hockey coverage, with analysts and former NHL’ers Guillaume Latendresse and Jean-Sébastien Giguère. Quebec sports journalist Marc-André Perreault reports rink side.
Both broadcasts will feature pre-game, intermission, and post-game segments. Prime is also introducing livestream features like AI-powered highlight reel Rapid Recap, bringing fans up to speed in two minutes or less when joining a game broadcast already in progress. Next Up, meanwhile, surfaces relevant recommendations on what viewers can stream next, including an in-playback carousel that lets viewers switch between alternate broadcasts, live events, and other content without leaving the NHL on Prime broadcast.
NHL on Prime is produced fully on site in English by Prime Sports, with French broadcasts produced on site and in-studio in collaboration with TVA Sports. Crête, Grand-Pierre, and Perreault wukk deliver live on site coverage for all seven Montréal Canadiens regular-season games, while studio programming originates from a dedicated NHL on Prime panel at the TVA Sports studio in Montréal.
National regular season games start Sept. 30 as the Toronto Maple Leafs host the New York Islanders, with coverage beginning at 7 p.m. ET. Prime Video’s other hockey offerings this season, include new docuseries Hometown Giants, following Canadian musical icon Michael Bublé and TV personality and entrepreneur Drew Scott as part-owners of the Western Hockey League (WHL) Vancouver Giants. It starts streaming Friday, Oct. 16, exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries worldwide.
