Radio is continuing to be a part of Canadians’ daily routines—especially outside the home, according to Numeris’ breakdown of spring 2026 listening trends.
AM/FM radio reached 80% of Canadians weekly, with an average listening time of seven hours a week.
Sixty-eight per cent of all A25-54 radio tuning happened out of home, compared to 32% in home, according to the measurement agency. Out-of-home (OOH) listening was especially strong during Drive (80%) and Daytime (75%), while about two-thirds of listening during evenings and weekends took place outside the home. Breakfast tuning on the move was at 56%.

Out-of-home tuning remained strong across major markets, with Calgary boasting the highest share of OOH tuning at 86%, up from 77% last spring. Vancouver and Edmonton also recorded strong OOH listening at 76% and 73%, respectively, while Toronto remained steady year-over-year at 69%, a two-point gain from spring 2025.
Montreal led listening overall, 12+, with both Franco and Anglo audiences averaging around eight hours a week. Toronto followed at seven hours, while listeners in Edmonton, Calgary and Vancouver each spent about six hours with radio. Compared to last spring, tuning was up with both Montreal Anglo (+3%) and Vancouver (+2%) listeners.
Numeris says streaming remains a smaller but steady part of the overall audio mix, accounting for 11% of total AM/FM radio listening among Canadians 12+. That rises to 13% for Adults 18–34 and 15% for Adults 25–54. Among the A25–54 group, Vancouver led the way at 21%, followed by Montreal Anglo at 17% and Montreal Franco at 15%.
