Media personality Jim Toth has been named the new afternoon host on Corus Entertainment’s 680 CJOB Winnipeg.
Starting Nov. 1, The Jim Toth Show will air weekdays from 1 to 3 p.m. The program will explore both news and sports stories, including station broadcast partners, the Winnipeg Jets and Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Toth will also join Cameron Poitras as co-host of Jets at Noon, which will be extended to a full hour.
Toth is a nearly 30-year broadcast veteran with 16 years in the Winnipeg market. He most recently hosted the TSN 1290 (CFRW-AM) morning show for the past four years, up until this past February when Bell Media abandoned the radio brand in Winnipeg, Hamilton and Vancouver. Prior to joining TSN, Toth held various roles at CJOB from 2011-15, including hosting the 680 CJOB Sports Show, the Jim Toth Upperdeck Sports Show, and acting as the station’s lead Winnipeg Jets reporter. He also previously freelanced as a co-host on Global News Morning and produced Global’s Grey Cup coverage in 2015.
“We’re excited to welcome back respected broadcaster Jim Toth to the CJOB team. Jim’s sense of humour, valuable sports knowledge and passion for community stories have drawn in engaging listeners and we’re pleased to have him round out our weekday lineup,” said Heather Steele, 680 CJOB Manager, Talk & Talent, in a Corus announcement.
The station also recently shifted long-time host Hal Anderson from afternoons to weekday mornings with Connecting Winnipeg from 10 a.m. to noon.
The new weekday lineup includes:
The Start with Mackling, Megarry and McNabb airs 6 a.m. to 10 a.m.
Connecting Winnipeg with Hal Anderson airs 10 a.m. to noon
Jets at Noon with Cameron Poitras and Jim Toth airs noon to 1 p.m.
The Jim Toth Show airs 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
The News with Richard Cloutier and Julie Buckingham airs 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
