WildBrain acquires tech developer Personality AI in $11M U.S. deal

WildBrain has acquired Personality AI, the Los Angeles-headquartered tech developer that uses generative AI to bring licensed characters and IP to life.

Founded in 2025, Personality AI has previously worked on projects for brands like Amazon Kids+, developing a generative AI platform for the children’s subscription service; and an interactive voice experience with Hasbro that lets kids talk with Peppa Pig via games and activities inspired by the series.

WildBrain says Personality AI has demonstrated its ability to deliver “trusted, child-safe” generative AI experiences for globally-recognized entertainment brands and platforms, with the acquisition to introduce a new category of “safe-by-design, scalable character experiences that can be built once and deployed anywhere.”

“Personality AI’s character experiences enable deeper consumer engagement with entertainment IP beyond traditional licensing and content,” WildBrain said in a company announcement. “Management believes Personality AI’s business model is well positioned to generate recurring revenue streams with attractive margin characteristics and is expected to be EBITDA accretive in fiscal 2027. The agreement is designed to align the interests of Personality AI’s management with WildBrain shareholders and incentivize continued growth and long-term value creation.”

WildBrain will acquire 100% of Personality AI’s outstanding shares for roughly $11 million USD in cash and one million WildBrain shares. The agreement also provides for additional performance-based cash consideration up to $56 million USD tied to the Personality AI business achieving certain revenue targets through 2029.

Under the agreement, John Goscha, founder and CEO of Personality AI, joins WildBrain’s Executive Leadership Team with the title of Executive Vice President, Personality AI, reporting to WildBrain President & CEO Josh Scherba. The acquisition also brings Personality AI’s team of experts in AI app and product creation to WildBrain under Goscha.

“Personality AI enables more continuous interaction between fans and brands, strengthening our ability to deliver end-to-end franchise solutions to partners,” said Scherba. “This highly complementary acquisition positions us and Personality AI as a more integrated partner to IP owners globally through our in-house licensing agency, WildBrain CPLG, while helping support the continued growth of both our owned and partner brands.”

“I’m thrilled to be joining forces with WildBrain, a clear leader in family entertainment. At Personality AI, we share WildBrain’s commitment to children’s wellbeing, which is why we employ rigorous safety standards to ensure appropriate, authentic and trustworthy content and experiences for kids, parents and IP owners alike,” added Goscha. “I look forward to working with Josh and the WildBrain management team to bring our capabilities to more brands, platforms and audiences around the world while maintaining the high standards of safety, trust and innovation that have defined Personality AI.”
