Vista Radio expands ‘ICON Radio’ brand into Ontario

Vista Radio is expanding its ICON Radio Classic Hits brand into Ontario with the launch of 107.9 ICON Radio (CKPP-FM) Prescott and 106.5 ICON Radio (CHBY-FM) Barry’s Bay.

Both stations formerly played Classic Hits under Vista’s Moose FM brand. The rebranded stations join the original ICON Radio station (CKAY-FM), launched in Sechelt on B.C.’s Sunshine Coast in March 2024.

The format, which spans decades, genres and artists – from Wilson Pickett to Gino Vanelli, Billy Joel, Harlequin, and Brooks and Dunn – “features legendary performers,  unforgettable anthems, timeless favourites, one hit wonders, and the songs that continue to connect people through shared memories and musical moments.” The music is interspersed with artist spotlights and music history.

“We launched ICON Radio because we believed there was a real appetite for a station that  treated the music, and the people who made it, with the respect and energy they deserve,” said Bryan Edwards, President of Vista Radio. “The response in British Columbia has  shown us that listeners still love great songs, great stories, and familiar voices. We are very excited to bring that experience to Prescott and Barry’s Bay.”

Among the voices heard across the ICON Radio network are veteran personalities Brother Jake Edwards and Jim Jackson

Vista says while the stations will take on the new ICON Radio sound, local news and information websites MyBarrysBayNow.com and MyPrescottNow.com will remain unchanged.

“Prescott and Barry’s Bay are great radio communities,” added Edwards. “These stations  will continue to be local, community connected, and relevant, while also offering a fresh and  highly listenable music format that stands apart on the dial.”
