Toronto’s Z103.5 mourning loss of APD Drew Suriano

The staff of Evanov Communications’ Z103.5 (CIDC-FM) Toronto are mourning the loss of Assistant Program Director Drew Suriano.

Suriano passed away suddenly Saturday evening, morning show hosts Ronnie Stanton and Melanie Martin told listeners Monday morning.

He had been with the station since 2003, joining as an intern while still attending the Radio and Television Broadcasting Technology program at Humber College. A Music and Programming Assistant with the station for more than two decades, he’d held the APD title since 2023.

“If we sounded a bit weird or flat or sad today, it’s because we are,” said Stanton. “Over the weekend we lost a dearly loved member of the Z radio family…you might know him as DJ Drew. He worked here for more than 20 years, started as an intern then a board operator pressing buttons, DJ and most recently was the Assistant Program Director.”

“He left a young family behind him and a radio family that’s shocked and devastated and totally numb right now,” Stanton told listeners. “This is really hard. Drew was the glue here at Z103 and one of the best human beings I’ve ever known.”
