The Nation Network (TNN) is unifying its hockey news platforms in Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto, and Vancouver under singular digital brand, Daily Faceoff.
Flames Nation, Oilers Nation, The Leafs Nation and Canucks Army will be rebranded as Daily Faceoff Calgary, Daily Faceoff Edmonton, Daily Faceoff Toronto and Daily Faceoff Vancouver. While their respective social media handles have already been updated, a full transition is expected by January.
“We are very excited about this next chapter because of what it unlocks for our business,” said Jay Downton, co-founder and president of The Nation Network. “By taking this step, we will be able to unlock more content for our fans, provide greater opportunities for our teammates, and ultimately drive the next step for TNN and Daily Faceoff as a hockey platform. This evolution of our hockey sites will help us unlock stronger connections to both the teams and the league, and we look forward to continuing to empower our trusted teams to create high-quality local content for our network of fans.”
TNN elaborated in a post on LinkedIn, stating that as the way fans consume hockey evolves, they are looking for both team coverage and instant access to breaking news, analysis, fantasy insights, lineup intelligence, insider reporting, and a broader view of the hockey world.
“It creates an opportunity to take what we’ve built in our local markets and introduce our communities, voices, and fan-first approach to an even bigger hockey audience across North America — including opportunities to grow in the United States,” Downtown added.
“The voices, personalities, opinions, and conversations that fans have come to know and trust will remain at the heart of what we do,” he continued. “And this next chapter gives us even more room to build around them — from new fan experiences and signature Nation Vacations to the return of our merchandise brand and more ways for fans to connect beyond daily coverage.”
“This isn’t simply a name change. It’s the next evolution of how we cover hockey, connect with fans, and build the future of hockey communities.”
Founded in Edmonton in 2007, TNN purports to garner 250M+ page views annually across its properties, 86M+ annual streams, and boasts more than 2.5M social media followers.
