Terry Evans, who has been a staple for K97 (CIRK-FM) Edmonton listeners for four decades, has hosted his last show.
Evans, who has been heard on the morning show since 1999, just celebrated his 40th anniversary on the Edmonton airwaves on Feb. 4 – the date he arrived at K97 in 1986. The occasion was marked with a special citation from Alberta Premier Danielle Smith for “four impressive decades, and for your long-standing dedication to local charities and Edmonton’s vibrant music scene.”

“Every book has a final page. Every party comes to an end. Thank you for allowing me into your home, car and workplace. It has been an honour. I am beyond grateful,” Evans wrote in a post to his social media channels, following his final show on Monday.
Evans got his feet wet in radio in Lethbridge, where he attended Lethbridge Community College’s Communication Arts program. He had been with K97 since his arrival in 1986 – with the exception of a five-year stint at Edmonton’s 100.3 The Bear (CFBR-FM) from 1992-97.
Among the local charities Evans championed over the years were Kids for Cancer and the Rock and Roll Society of Edmonton. He’s also the host of the Reluctantly podcast.
Stingray Radio President Steve Jones told Broadcast Dialogue that an announcement on the future of the K97 morning show is forthcoming.
“We are working on plans and will announce something soon, but today is about celebrating Terry Evans,” said Jones. “Terry has been a part of Edmonton radio for four decades and left an indelible mark on the city, and I know he’ll continue to be involved in projects – media and otherwise – that continue to do so.”
