Stingray to launch cross-Canada evening show on CHR/Hot AC stations

Stingray will launch a cross-Canada evening show on its CHR (Contemporary Hit Radio) and Hot AC (Hot Adult Contemporary) radio stations, starting Monday, Jan. 7.

Katie & Ed, the morning team from 90.3 AMP Radio (CKMP-FM) Calgary, will host the new show on stations from Vancouver to St. John’s.

The Night Show with Katie & Ed will be heard on:

  • 99.1 HITS-FM (CKIX-FM) St. John’s, NL
  • 101.9 The Giant (CHRK-FM) Sydney, NS
  • Hot 105.5 (CKQK-FM) Charlottetown, PEI
  • Hot 89.9 (CIHT-FM) Ottawa, ON
  • Hot 93.5 (CIGM-FM) Sudbury, ON
  • Z95.3 (CKZZ-FM) Vancouver, BC

Described as “unpredictable, unscripted and unfiltered” in a Stingray press release, Steve Jones, SVP Brands & Content, Radio, said the new show will mirror much of the content from AMP Mornings with Katie & Ed.

“Some of it will be repurposed content and some will be original content for the night show,” Jones told Broadcast Dialogue.

Jones said many of the stations that will air the new show were voice-tracking their evening time slots and moving to a national program won’t result in any layoffs. In Vancouver, Z95.3 evening personality Vanessa will join Sutto (Matt Sutton) on afternoons.
