SiriusXM introduces ‘Morning Skate’ podcast as networks gear up for Stanley Cup Playoffs

SiriusXM is introducing SiriusXM Morning Skate, a new daily podcast delivering a comprehensive recap of the previous night’s hockey action, as the satellite radio provider ramps up its coverage ahead of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Hosted by an all-Canadian team of broadcasters that includes Scott Laughlin and Gord Stellick, alongside Tyler Madarasz, SiriusXM Morning Skate – an extension of the SiriusXM NHL Network Radio (ch. 91) show of the same name – will be available each morning on the SiriusXM app and major podcast platforms, covering the latest scores, headlines, standout performances, and trending topics.

SiriusXM playoff coverage got underway Friday, with Stanley Cup Preview Day. In addition to Stellick and Laughlin, its playoff roster of hosts and NHL insiders, includes Steve Kouleas, Mike Johnson, Mick Kern, Martin BironAnthony Stewart, Andrew Raycroft, Craig Button, Elliotte Friedman, Chris Pronger, Carter Hutton, Tony Granato, Bruce Boudreau, Brian Burke, Jason Strudwick, Frankie Corrado, Nate Thompson, Jake Hahn, Victoria Matiash, Linda Cohn and David Pagnotta.\

Sportsnet multi-platform coverage

Sportsnet has also unveiled its Stanley Cup Playoffs schedule as three Canadian teams – the Montreal Canadiens, Edmonton Oilers and Ottawa Senators – look to end Canada’s 33-year Stanley Cup drought.

The network’s multi-platform coverage of every first-round matchup – spanning Sportsnet, Sportsnet+, CBC, OMNI, and the Sportsnet Radio Network – also includes an increased podcast presence with 32 Thoughts: The Podcast, featuring NHL insiders Friedman and Kyle Bukauskas, extendlng to three episodes per week. 

On the television side, Ron MacLean and David Amber will host pre-game, intermission and post-game alongside experts Kevin Bieksa, FriedmanKelly HrudeyJennifer Botterill, and Luke Gazdic.

Hockey Night in Canada: Punjabi Edition, helmed by Randip JandaHarpreet PandherGurpreet SianMantar Bhandal, and Taqdeer Thindal, will deliver select Saturday night games on OMNI Television.

Sportsnet.ca, the Sportsnet app and the network’s social channels, will additionally feature in-depth daily reads and analysis from NHL reporters Mark Spector (Edmonton), Alex Adams (Ottawa), Eric Engels (Montreal), Sonny Sachdeva (Pittsburgh), and Ryan Dixon (Buffalo).

Rogers expanding ‘Multiview’

Rogers has also announced it’s expanding Rogers Xfinity Multiview ahead of the Stanley Cup and NBA Playoffs, as well as the Toronto Blue Jays 50th season.

The enhanced experience now gives Rogers Xfinity customers the ability to watch up to four live games at once, all on one screen, selected from a pre‑determined list on Sportsnet.

Multiview was first introduced to Rogers customers during the Stanley Cup Playoffs last year.
