RTDNA Canada unveils Best Canadian Local News Awards finalists

RTDNA Canada has announced the finalists for its Best Canadian Local News Awards, recognizing excellence in digital and broadcast journalism across audio, digital and video.

This year’s Audio category finalists are dominated by local CBC bureaus, with multiple nods to CBC Edmonton, CBC Yukon, CBC British Columbia, CBC Newfoundland & Labrador, CBC Toronto and CBC Montreal. Rogers Sports & Media’s 660 NewsRadio (CFFR-AM) Calgary and 1130 NewsRadio (CKWX-AM) Vancouver also picked up two nominations apiece.

CBC British Columbia has a leading four nominations amongst the Digital category finalists, with CTV Atlantic, CTV Vancouver and Toronto publication The Green Line up for Overall Excellence in Digital.

CTV Vancouver leads Multiplatform nominations with three, including nods for Continuing Coverage (Large Market), Enterprise Journalism (Large Market) and Investigative Excellence.

In the Video category, CTV Atlantic earned five nominations, with CBC Edmonton, CBC British Columbia, CBC Montreal, CBC North, CTV Vancouver, CTV Calgary, and Global BC also earning multiple nods.

Winners will be announced at the RTDNA’s National Awards Gala in Toronto on Nov. 1. Find the full list of finalists here:
