Steve Warne, morning show co-host at TSN 1200 (CFGO-AM) Ottawa, is among the veteran TSN Radio personalities caught up in cuts at Bell Media.

Bell Media has laid off several veteran personalities at its TSN Radio stations. At TSN 1200 (CFGO-AM) Ottawa, longtime staff affected include morning co-host Steve Warne, who had been with the station for 19 years; producer James Abson, a 20-year employee; and morning Sportscentre anchor Dean Roberts, who’d been with TSN and sister station 580 CFRA, since 1996. At TSN 1040 (CKST-AM) Vancouver, gone are morning show host Dave Pratt, who joined TSN in 2013; rotating co-host and colour commentator Dave Tomlinson, who was with the station for 15 years; along with producer Curt Appleby.

Scott-Fee

Scott Fee is returning to CHEK-TV Victoria as news director. Fee, who was previously an anchor at CHEK from 2005 – 2011, signed off from Global Calgary on Mar. 8 after seven years with the station. Fee succeeds Rob Germain in the ND role. Germain was CHEK’s news director for 17 years, up until last September when he was promoted to general manager of CHEK Media.

Kevin Brown

Kevin Brown has been appointed Managing Director/Director of Sales, Bayshore Broadcasting. Brown will assume responsibility for the operations and strategic vision of Bayshore’s nine radio stations. Reporting to President Doug Caldwell and CFO Ernest Yin, Brown will continue to work closely with Sue O’Reilly, Director of Finance, and Ian Solecki, Director of Operations, while overseeing day-to-day operations, finance and sales efforts. Brown will celebrate his 15th anniversary with Bayshore this year. Prior to joining the company, Brown was GSM for Blackburn Radio’s stations in Wingham.

Fiona Forbes

Fiona Forbes has joined Global BC as a community reporter while Kaitlyn Herbst is on maternity leave. Forbes is best known for co-hosting Shaw TV Vancouver’s long-running interview show Urban Rush.

Eilish Bonang

Eilish Bonang is CTV Atlantic’s newest video journalist. She’ll be based in Moncton. Bonang is a recent graduate of the Nova Scotia Community College Radio Television Journalism program.

Monique Marcotte

Monique Marcotte will retire as VP of People and Culture at CBC/Radio-Canada at the end of June. Marcotte has been with the public broadcaster for more than 25 years and held the VP role since 2016. Marco Dubé, who most recently was VP of Strategy and Public Affairs, based in Ottawa, will move into Marcotte’s role.

Henry Burris

Henry Burris is stepping away from his co-hosting role on CTV Morning Live Ottawa, but will continue to contribute to Bell Media stations TSN 1200 and CFRA 580. The former Ottawa Redblacks quarterback first joined the morning show in April 2017.

Melanie Marquis is leaving the French-language arm of The Canadian Press to join La Presse as its parliamentary correspondent in Ottawa. Her first day is Mar. 25. Marquis started with CP in Montreal in 2010, and has been in the Ottawa bureau the last five years.

Dylen Postnikoff

Dylen Postnikoff has been appointed to the newly-expanded position of VP, Global Brand Strategy, at Shaftesbury. Reporting directly to CEO Christina Jennings, Postnikoff will lead marketing and communications strategy for Shaftesbury’s premium entertainment properties. She’ll also oversee merchandising and licensing for Shaftesbury titles including Murdoch Mysteries, award-winning web series/feature film Carmilla, anthology series Slasher and upcoming TV drama Hudson & Rex. Most recently, Postnikoff was head of TV Entertainment and Content Marketing at CBC where she led the marketing team that launched Schitt’s Creek, Kim’s Convenience, The Baroness Von Sketch Show and Anne with an E.

Aliy Brown

Aliy Brown has joined Breakthrough Entertainment as a sales executive. Brown joins Breakthrough from international distribution company 108 Media, where she was most recently director of content. She’s previously worked with Kaleidoscope Entertainment and Fremantle.
