The Canadian Communications Foundation has added five new members to its board of directors. They are: Isme Bennie, former exec with CTV Specialty Services, CHUM, TV Ontario; Owen Brierley, executive director, Edmonton Digital Arts College and a managing partner of Gystworks; Paul Cross, program coordinator of the Postgrad Radio Broadcasting program at Humber College; Shawn Praskey, VP & Head of Content Sales – Disney/ABC Home Entertainment and Television Group; and Adam Walker, manager, Network Intelligence – Cable, Rogers Communications.
Matt Mise has been promoted into the director of sales role at Indie88 (CIND-FM) Toronto. Mise had been managing the station’s Digital Sales & Partnerships since late 2015.
Heather Backman has joined The Q! 100.3 (CKKQ-FM) Victoria as the new afternoon co-host, alongside Ryan Awram. Backman was most recently a part time traffic reporter at KNX 1070 NewsRadio Los Angeles and previously morning show co-host at 97.7 CHOM-FM Montreal before getting swept up in Bell Media layoffs early last year.
Ronnie Stanton, former VP of national brands and programming for Corus Entertainment, is returning to his native Australia in May. Stanton will relinquish his day-to-day programming duties at KEZR Mix 106 and KBAY San Jose, but continue to oversee Alpha Media’s Rock and AC formats remotely.
