CBC Radio 2’s lineup has been announced for shows Mornings and the affiliated Weekend Morning. Starting Oct. 3, Raina Douris returns to CBC to take the reins of the morning show as Tom Power moves on to host q. Douris was most recently with Toronto’s Indie88, where she hosted the morning show, Raina & Matt. Angeline Tetteh-Wayoe has been named permanent host of Weekend Morning after several months of guest hosting. Former host Talia Schlanger left earlier this year to join NPR. Wayoe comes from Flow 93.5 (CFXJ-FM) The Beat of Toronto. Also returning to Radio 2 on Nov. 4 is weekly R&B show Marvin’s Room with host Amanda Parris who is an artist, educator and columnist for CBC Arts.

Michael Cassar is the new retail sales manager for the Bell Media Toronto radio cluster. Most recently he was GSM for the Corus radio properties in Hamilton. Prior to that Cassar was director of sales, Ontario and Atlantic for Canon Canada and director of sales, Ontario for Grand & Toy.

Scott Johns is the new director, revenue management and local sales at Newcap Radio in Toronto. He comes to the position after 10 years with Bell Media and Astral Media in various roles including revenue director and director of revenue management in the Toronto area.

Doug Veronelly of Calgary’s Country 105 (CKRY-FM), hosted his final The Odd Squad morning show Sept. 23 after announcing his retirement earlier this summer. Country stars George Canyon, Paul Brandt and Bobby Wills joined in the celebration of Veronelly’s 24 years on-air. Former Country 105 afternoon host Roger Rhodes joins The Odd Squad with co-hosts Dan Carson and Robyn Adair.

The door is not revolving for CJAY 92 host Gerry Forbes after all. Forbes has renewed his contract for another two years just as he celebrates his 60th birthday. The host of The Gerry Forbes Show was expected to retire but decided he wasn’t ready to stop waking up Calgary listeners. Forbes has been with the station for 23 years and his known for his stunts and volunteer work.

Gord Gillies, anchor of Calgary’s Global News Hour at 6 p.m is joining News Talk 770 (CHQR) host Angela Kokott on Calgary Today’s Friday Free For All. Starting Sept. 30, every Friday from 3-4:00 p.m. the well-known news personalities will take on the top stories of the week.

Caroline Hunter is heading back to Winnipeg to join 99.9 BOB FM (CFWM-FM) as mid-day announcer after five years in communications. Hunter spent 16 years at QX 104 (CFQX-FM) before leaving the morning show in 2011. She is also stadium announcer for the CFL’s Winnipeg Blue Bombers and has worked with Winnipeg Harvest in communications and development since 2013. Her first day on air will be Oct. 11.

Dahlia Kurtz, Winnipeg talk show host with 680 CJOB, has announced her last show on the station will be Sept. 30 after three years with the Corus station. Kurtz is also a writer and has worked with CBC and Sun Media.

Elizabeth Priest is the new news director for Harvard Broadcasting Fort McMurray. Priest joined the team from Winnipeg where she was a reporter/anchor with 680 CJOB. Other career stops include being news reporter at Blackburn Radio Wingham and then-Astral Radio Trail.

Scott Pettigrew is the new station manager at Acadia Broadcasting’s Thunder Bay stations Magic 99.9 (CJUK-FM) and Country 105 (CKTG-FM). After close to 27 years with Blackburn Radio Wingham, Pettigrew had moved to 680 CJOB Winnipeg as PD/ND in 2012. Back in Ontario, he succeeds Brent Preston who is relocating with the company to Saint John.

Colin Botten is the new program manager/morning host at Cool FM (CKUE-FM) Windsor/Chatham. Botten joined Blackburn Radio in 2015 as morning show host for sister station CHOK Sarnia and then moved into sales for six months. He succeeds J Stevens who moved to 97-5 Virgin Radio London as APD/afternoon host.

Scott Armstrong, formerly with Corus Entertainmentand Rogers Broadcasting, has been named regional cluster manager for Vista Radio’s Timmins Group. Armstrong will be responsible for stations in Timmons, Kapuskasing, Cochrane and Iroquois Falls. His first official day was Sept. 26 but he’ll begin at the Timmins station October 3. Pete Montana, formerly GM/GSM, has assumed the newly created Timmins Group regional cluster PD role. Former overall Ontario North regional manager Peter Hobbswill now serve as regional cluster manager for the company’s North Bay Group, which also includes Sturgeon Falls, Elliott Lake and Espanola. Ryan Griffiths who was the Ontario North PD will now serve as regional cluster PD for the North Bay group. The realignment is intended to allow both teams to best serve their respective markets.

Scott Eagleson, part of the early CFNY-FM team in Toronto as well as Vancouver’s Coast 1040 has joined NYTheSpirit.com. He will be a contributor to the music streaming service’s DJs Signature Series. The show will be called Scott Eagleson’s Further and promises to call on a vast library, showing that all music shares the same roots.

George Orr, veteran journalist and former BCIT journalism instructor for 21 years has been rejected as a candidate for the BC Green Party in North Vancouver Lonsdale to run in the May 2017 provincial election. Orr told The Commentaries podcast host Joseph Planta he is “insulted” but is not considering running for any other party. He says the rejection was based on blog posts he’s made over the years.
