Radioplayer Worldwide names new CEO

Radioplayer Worldwide – the broadcaster backed organization working to grow radio listening across connected devices and in-car – has named Yann Legarson as its new Chief Executive Officer to lead the non-profit’s next phase of growth.

Yann Legarson

Legarson joins the international organization from Radioplayer France, where he’s led the brand’s launch and growth since 2020. He’ll take up his new role in May, succeeding founder Michael Hill, who announced last fall he would be joining UK charity, Friends of the Lake. Hill launched Radioplayer in the UK in 2011 as a unique collaboration between the BBC and commercial radio to offer stations a platform to reach listeners digitally. It’s since expanded to 16 countries, including Greece and Finland, which joined earlier this year.

Radioplayer Worldwide says the organization is poised for further international growth focused on its in-car and connected devices strategy, including tech partnerships with VW Group and BMW, among other car manufacturers, to ensure radio’s prominence in dashboards of the future.

“I am very proud to lead the Radioplayer Worldwide team – a team that I already know well,” said Legarson, in a release. “Radioplayer is a great tool to allow radio to remain accessible everywhere. The success of Radioplayer in different countries, particularly in Europe and Canada, demonstrates the power and appeal of Radioplayer, and we have exciting plans to expand further. We have great development projects planned, and I am delighted that Radioplayer’s shareholders trust me to lead them.”

Editor’s note: Momentum Media Marketing, Broadcast Dialogue’s parent company, is the board-appointed administrator of Radioplayer Canada.
