Pary Bell appointed CEO of TVO

TVO Media Education Group (TVO) has announced Pary Bell as its next CEO.

Bell was most recently CEO of The Podcast Exchange (TPX). He’s best known for his eight-year run with Rogers Sports & Media where he ended his tenure in 2017 as Vice President & General Manager of Rogers Media, Sportsnet & NHL. He’s also held roles with Torstar, Canwest, Alliance Atlantis and CBC.

“Pary’s rich background in digital media, his experience leading omni-channel strategies, and his passion for learning make him the ideal leader for TVO at this important time in our evolution,” said TVO Board Chair Chris Day, in an announcement. “I look forward to working with him as we continue to serve learners of all ages, throughout Ontario’s education system and beyond.”

“TVO is a special organization with a clear public purpose and a deeply committed team. I am excited to join at this moment and to build on the strong foundation the leadership team has stewarded,” added Bell. “I am grateful for the confidence of the Board and the Ministry, and I am looking forward to working together to support TVO’s mission for learners, audiences, and communities across Ontario.”

Bell, who will assume his new role on Jan. 12, succeeds Jeffrey Orridge who stepped away from TVO in August. The former CFL and commissioner and CBC executive had held the role since late 2020.

Chief Operating Officer Jennifer Hinshelwood had been serving as Acting CEO.
