Jim Andersen appointed president of SDS

Jim Andersen has been appointed the new president of Toronto-based broadcast industry solutions provider, SDS (Specialty Data Systems).

Anderson, who has been with the company for 25 years and most recently served as Chief Operating Officer, succeeds founder Dave Cole, who started the business in 1993 following a career in radio and TV advertising sales and management. Cole will continue to serve as Executive Chair, providing strategic advice and support.

Prior to joining the company in 2001, Andersen had a brief run as Manager, User Support at Corus Entertainment after its acquisition of Power Broadcasting, where he served as Manager, Systems and Administration for 11 radio and three television stations throughout Southern Ontario.

“I was fortunate that Dave took a chance on me in 2001,” said Anderson, in a company announcement. “Dave has been an incredible mentor, and has helped me develop both personally and professionally. His guidance and support have been invaluable throughout my career.”

“As Jim leads SDS forward, I hope he finds the same sense of satisfaction that I have had running the company,” said Cole. “Our industry is undergoing significant change, but this brings new opportunities. By combining Jim’s vision with the expertise of the SDS team, plus ideas from our clients, I know SDS will both identify and seize those opportunities moving forward.”

“While I look forward to leading SDS into the future, I am equally grateful to know that Dave will remain a valued resource and mentor,” Anderson added. “His experience, perspective, and continued guidance will be invaluable as we build on the strong foundation he has created.”
