James Lewis has been appointed to the newly-created role of Executive Producer, CP24 and CTV News Toronto.
Announced Tuesday, a memo from Richard Gray, Vice-President, CTV News, said the move supports the organization’s “overall news transformation strategy as we change to a single newsroom approach allowing for greater collaboration and efficiency.”
“In this position, James will ensure that both properties remain hyper-focused on providing exceptional multi-platform news coverage of the Greater Toronto/Hamilton Area reflecting Canada’s largest metropolitan region back to itself,” wrote Gray.
Lewis has been with CTV News Toronto since 2017, initially as the weeknight producer of CTV News at 11:30. He was promoted to senior producer in 2019 and had held the role of News Director since 2022. Prior to joining CTV, Lewis produced Global BC’s Global News at 11. A graduate of BCIT’s Broadcast and Online Journalism program, he started his career with 980 CKNW Vancouver as a beat reporter and anchor.
The move to a single Executive Producer overseeing both channels, follows a recent round of layoffs at Bell Media that saw a number of departures from the Toronto news operation, including Ramneek Gill, General Manager, CP24 & CTV News Toronto.
