Global Calgary shuffles anchor lineup

Global Calgary has announced changes to its local news lineup, starting Monday, Sept. 9, headlined by the addition of Dallas Flexhaug to Global News at 5 and Global News Hour at 6.

Joining Joel Senick and Paul Dunphy, Flexhaug moves to the evening newscasts from the local edition of Global News Morning, after almost a decade with the morning show and seven years as its anchor. She succeeds Linda Olsen, who retired from the station this month after almost three decades with Global Calgary.

“I am a born and raised Calgarian and I love this city,” said Flexhaug, in a Corus Entertainment announcement. “I’m grateful that I get to serve the community in this new way and after spending almost a decade as the anchor of Global News Morning, I feel ready to take on a new challenge and turn off the 3 a.m. alarm clock! Sleep will be my new best friend along with Joel Senick! See you on Global News at 5 and Global News Hour at 6 where I’ll focus on local news that connects the community, and hopefully share a few laughs along the way.”

Other moves see Bindu Suri, who has been with the station since 2007, trade in middays for mornings, joining Blake Lough on the Global News Morning anchor desk. Veteran reporter and anchor, Tracy Nagai, shifts from Global News Morning Weekend, to weekdays and will now be seen on Global News at Noon, alongside Senick. Ina Sidhu will continue to anchor Global News at 11.

On weekends, recently-combined broadcasts for both Calgary and Edmonton will see Global Edmonton’s Lisa MacGregor anchor Global News Morning Weekend, from 7 to 10 a.m. MT. Global Calgary’s Jayme Doll will be the weekend anchor for Global News Hour at 6 and Global News at 11, seen in both Calgary and Edmonton.
