DAZN streaming service to launch first original series

Sports streaming service DAZN is producing its first original series that will see football icons Cristiano Ronaldo, Newymar Jr and legendary manager José Mourinho tell the stories behind the biggest games of their careers.

The Making Of (9 x 25’) will also feature interviews with John O’Shea, Rafael Alcántara, Fernando Santos, Roberto Carlos and Julio Cesar, as well as journalists who covered the game and fans.

The series will be available on DAZN in all nine of its markets, including Canada, as part of an emerging content strategy combining original programming, alongside premium live and on-demand sport streaming. The Making Of is the first global series produced by DAZN, following MotoGP documentary series In Our Blood, documentary Being Mario Götze, three-part docuseries Canelo vs. Rocky and most recently, 40 Days and ABOUT: The story behind the upset of the era, a behind the scenes look at the historic Anthony Joshua vs Ruiz Jr heavyweight title fight.

“In the world of sport, live and non-live content goes hand in hand. Our original programming strategy is about creating iconic content that complements our extensive premium live-sport offering and engages viewers to bring them closer to the sport and athletes they love. It’s about driving engagement, retention and mass brand awareness around the biggest sporting cultural moments. DAZN is changing the way the world sees sport, and we want fans to expect the best sport programmes from us as another reason to get DAZN, alongside show stopping live content,” said James Rushton, Chief Revenue Officer, DAZN Group, in a release.

The Making Of is being produced in association with Archer’s Mark, a UK-based creative production company, executive produced by Grant Best, SVP Original Programming and Content Development, DAZN, with Toby Burnett as Executive Creative Director, DAZN Creative. The series is directed by Dan Riley and produced by Ian Henderson.
