The CRTC has postponed three upcoming hearings in the wake of last weekend’s federal election call.
The federal regulatory agency says it’s exercising the “Caretaker Convention,” which encourages restraint during an election.
Starting with its hearing on defining “Canadian program” and supporting its creation and distribution in the audio-visual sector, which was slated for March 31, the commission is postponing all three public hearings under The Path Forward broadcast modernization regime.
That includes its May 12 hearing on sustainability in the Canadian broadcast system and a hearing on supporting Canadian and Indigenous audio content, originally scheduled for June 18.
The commission says new hearing dates will be announced at a later date.
