Chantal Desjardins joins Energy 106 Winnipeg in afternoon drive

Evanov Communications has announced that TV and radio personality, comedian and voice actor Chantal Desjardins has joined Winnipeg’s ENERGY 106 (CHWE-FM) as the station’s new afternoon drive host.

Starting today, she’ll be heard weekdays from 2 – 6 p.m. CT. Originally from Winnipeg, Desjardins has spent the past 20 years in Montreal, where she most recently co-hosted mornings on CHOM 97.7 from 2022-24. She was also seen on Sportsnet as the network’s Montreal Canadiens studio host and served as a sports anchor at CJAD 800, among other freelance work with CTV and Citytv’s Breakfast Television.

“I’m so excited to be back in my hometown,” said Desjardins, in Evanov’s announcement. “I’ve had an amazing time in Montreal and Toronto, doing stand-up, television and radio, but there’s nothing like coming home, especially at this stage of my life and career. My kids will get to spend time with their grandparents, and I get to spend every afternoon yakking on air to my favourite people—Winnipeggers!”

“Chantal has built an impressive career, and we’re thrilled she is bringing that experience home to Winnipeg,” added Adam West, Content and Operations Manager. “She is funny, engaging and genuinely connected to this city. I am excited for our audience to get to know her every afternoon.”

Desjardins steps into the daypart formerly helmed by Mike Tagami, who left the station after four years in May to return to his home province of B.C., where he’s now heard on Virgin Radio (CFBT-FM) in Vancouver.
