Buffalo Gal Pictures launches new series development driver ‘Fiasco Global Media’

Buffalo Gal Pictures has launched sister enterprise Fiasco Global Media, a new television development company dedicated to creating character-driven stories “rooted in the spirit of working-class communities and rural prairies.”

Headquartered in Winnipeg and Los Angeles, Fiasco Global Media will be led by Jennifer Beasley, a former writer-turned-seasoned executive producer who has been working with Buffalo Gal since 2016, most recently holding the title of Vice-President of Development.

Beasley’s credits include CTV and The CW drama, The Spencer Sisters, Manitoba-set Indigenous comedy Acting Good, and the 2024 Guy Maddin written and directed Rumours, starring Cate Blanchett.

Buffalo Gal says the new company will expand the prodco’s international reach, while staying true to its creative roots.

“We aim to make series that stick with audiences,” said Beasley, in a company announcement. “Television narratives shouldn’t just reflect the lives we already live – they should offer windows into worlds where we can imagine something more. Our mission is simple: make the shows that captivate you now, and that you will revisit when your kids’ kids are discovering them. Relatable and endlessly rewatchable, we’re here to create the kind of TV that feels like home – wherever home may be.”

Early projects on Fiasco’s slate include a rural half-hour family workplace comedy series from writer Garry Campbell (North of North, Kids in the Hall, Less Than Kind) and a comedic police procedural from Hollis Ludlow-Carroll, creator of Citytv TV drama Wong & Winchester.

“Marking Buffalo Gal’s 30th anniversary with Fiasco under Jennifer’s leadership will continue to highlight our ongoing commitment to discovering and empowering new voices,” added Phyllis Laing, President of Buffalo Gal Pictures.

Joining Beasley as Consulting Head of U.S. Series Development is L.A.-based Burrad Marsh, whose career began at ICM as a literary agent before he transitioned into television development. Marsh has held executive roles at Alchemy, Shed Media, Outright Distribution, and Amaze Film & TV.
