Boat Rocker Studios expands Creative Affairs team

Boat Rocker Studios is expanding its Creative Affairs team, adding two executives to its Kids & Family and Unscripted teams as part of a new “strategic focus on the creation, ownership and global monetization of premium content across all genres.”

Vanessa Esteves

Vanessa Esteves joins the studio as Senior Director, Creative Affairs, Kids & Family. Based in Toronto, Esteves was Head of Production and Creative Supervising Producer, Development at Nelvana up until last September, capping a 20-year career with Corus Entertainment where she held roles including Supervising Creative Producer, working on shows including Max & Ruby and Ranger Rob.

In her new role, she’ll support the creative development, pre-sales, current series and production of Boat Rocker’s original animation slate, reporting to Gia Delaney, SVP, Global Sales & Content, Kids & Family.

Joey Case

Joey Case also joins the Toronto office as Senior Director, Creative Affairs, Unscripted. A newly-created role, Case will support the creative development, pre-sales, current series and production of Boat Rocker’s original unscripted slate, reporting to Natalie Vinet, SVP, Global Sales & Content, Unscripted.

Case arrives from Alibi Entertainment where he served as Executive Producer and Development Executive. He’s also worked with Attraction, Discovery, Essential Media Group and Proper Television, with his credits including serving as co-creator and executive producer of Smithsonian Channel’s How Did They Fix That?, Science Channel’s Underground Railroad: The Secret History, and Discovery Canada’s East Harbour Heroes. ‍‍ ‍

“Boat Rocker Studios continues to invest in best-in-class owned IP and expand our in-house creative expertise as we grow our slate of premium content,” said Jon Rutherford, President, Global Content & Rights, Boat Rocker Studios, in a company announcement. “We’re thrilled to welcome Vanessa and Joey to the team and are excited for them to help us continue to build our content creation and rights management business across our Kids & Family and Unscripted divisions.”‍
