Bell Media rebrands KOOL FM Victoria as 107.3 Virgin Radio

KOOL FM (CHBE-FM) Victoria has joined Bell Media’s roster of Virgin Radio-branded stations.

With the launch of 107.3 Virgin Radio will come a new morning show, starting Monday, Feb. 11. Virgin Mornings with Brittany and Chris will air weekdays from 5:30 – 10 a.m. PT.

Brittany King previously hosted drive on the station’s former KOOL FM incarnation and is a weather host with CTV Vancouver Island, while Chris Palliser has been midday host at 94.5 Virgin Radio (CFBT-FM) Vancouver since 2008.

“107.3 Virgin Radio is a world class brand with a morning show tailored for Victoria -Brittany and Chris grew up here and have strong family ties in the community,” said Program Director Chris Donnelly, in a news release.

“I’m super excited to be part of 107.3 Virgin Radio and am honored to wake up with my hometown,” said co-host Brittany King. “Chris and I actually worked together 14 years ago in Fort McMurray, Alta., so this is an exciting reunion. We’re going to have lots of fun…and also lots of coffee. He says he’s a tea guy, though. We’ll see…”

“To host this show with my friend Brittany in my hometown is a dream,” added Palliser. “Don’t wake me up please! I am so lucky I get to do what I love, surrounded by the people I love, in a place that I love – my wife and I cannot wait to raise our daughters here. Actually, better make sure to wake me up – I’m on air at 5:30 a.m.!”

Bell moved to eliminate the former KOOL FM morning show team of Paul Allen and Heather Palak last month. Since Jan. 21, the station had been playing non-stop music in the breakfast show slot.
