Alex Hindmarch to take on boom 97.3 MD duties

Alex Hindmarch is set to take on Music Director duties at Stingray’s boom 97.3 (CHBM-FM) Toronto, succeeding Wayne Webster, who is retiring this month after nearly five decades in radio.

Hindmarch, who additionally assumes the title of Brand & Content Lead for Classic Hits Stingray, will also continue hosting the morning show and serving as Program Director at Sudbury’s Rewind 103.9 (CHNO-FM), where he’s been since 2018. Prior to that, he spent three years holding down afternoon drive at JACK 96.9 (CJAQ-FM) Calgary, in addition to stints at 92.5 Fresh Radio (CKNG-FM) Edmonton, Hot 105.5 (CKQK-FM) Charlottetown, and Q107 (CILQ-FM) Toronto.

Webster’s last day with Stingray is Sept. 19.

“It’s a bittersweet email as we say goodbye to Wayne and welcome his replacement,” wrote boom 97.3 Program Director Troy McCallum, in an internal staff memo provided to Broadcast Dialogue. “As we mentioned before, Wayne is irreplaceable; however, we needed to find someone to fill the shoes of ‘Shoes’ and that person is someone who is a Stingray employee, has worked closely with me for the past 7+ years, lives four hours north of Toronto, hosts a morning show, has Music Master experience, and is totally pumped for the job.”

Wayne Webster was on Broadcast Dialogue – The Podcast earlier this summer taking us behind-the-scenes of his 48-year career. Listen on your favourite podcast app or here:
