Canadian Screen Awards kick off with Children’s Television, Cinematic Arts Awards

The Canadian Screen Awards got underway Thursday with the Children’s Television and Cinematic Arts Awards.

Post-apocalyptic thriller 40 Acres captured a leading nine awards, including Achievement in Direction and the John Dunning Best First Feature Film Award for R.T. Thorne.

Nirvanna the Band the Show the Move, Mile End Kicks, and Honey Bunch were also recognized in multiple categories.

In Children’s Television, the animated Super Team Canada and Odd Squad led wins. Will Arnett picked up the honour for Best Voice Performance for Super Team Canada, which was also recognized for Best Animated Program or Series.
