Torres Media to acquire Evanov’s CHSV-FM Hudson/Saint-Lazare

Evanov Radio Group is divesting another station, announcing Monday that Torres Media intends to acquire CHSV-FM Hudson/Saint-Lazare, Que., pending CRTC approval.

Currently branded as Lite 106.7 – Montreal’s Favourites, Evanov launched the station in 2015 with a Soft Adult Contemporary format.

“Transferring our only English-language commercial station in Quebec to another independent broadcaster is the right outcome for the station and the community it serves,” said Evanov Communications President Paul Evanov, in an announcement. “Torres Media’s deep roots in Canadian independent radio and focus on local content is a natural fit, and we are confident the station will thrive under their stewardship.”

CHSV-FM would become Torres Media’s sixth radio station and second in Quebec, joining 103.1 Max FM (CKOD-FM) Valleyfield, Que.

“We are excited to add a second Quebec station to our growing company-wide roster,” said Torres Media President Ed Torres. “CHSV-FM represents a compelling opportunity to extend our presence in the province and continue delivering the kind of  local, independent radio that Canadian listeners deserve. We look forward to supporting the station’s continued success and becoming an integral part of the community it serves.”

Torres Media Group previously purchased the assets of CJWL-FM Ottawa from Evanov in 2024, which had been slated for closure. It’s now operating as Mix 98.5 (CITM-FM).

Torres additionally operates Rebel 101.7 (CIDG-FM) Ottawa, 105.5 Hits FM (CIUX-FM) Uxbridge, ON, K Country 93.7 (CKOU-FM) Georgina, ON, and traffic, weather and programming syndicator SkyWords Media.

The divestiture reduces Evanov’s station count to 10, with multicultural station CFMB AM 1280 remaining its only property in Quebec.
