Longtime 840 CFCW Edmonton personality and program director Jackie Rae Greening will hang up her headphones on Nov. 7, capping a more than 40-year career in radio.
Most recently holding the dual role of PD and Manager of Operations for Stingray Radio Edmonton, Greening first joined the station in 1989.
After getting her feet wet in radio with on-air and promotions gigs in Red Deer and Drumheller, she joined CFCW as the station’s Marketing Director, establishing herself as an on-air fixture, including co-hosting the CFCW morning show for 12 years, alongside the late Wes Montgomery. She is currently heard in middays.
“As someone who grew up listening to CFCW, having the opportunity to work here for the past 36 years has been nothing short of a dream come true. I consider myself incredibly fortunate,” Greening told Broadcast Dialogue. “A heartfelt thank you to Newcap and Stingray—two exceptional companies that not only supported me, but also gave me the freedom to march to the beat of my own drum.”
“Jackie Rae is an unstoppable force of nature,” said Steve Jones, President, Stingray Radio. “Her talent, drive, and kindness made her an industry legend, and helped her guide a legendary radio station to incredible success. The imprint she left on 840 CFCW is indelible.”

That imprint includes leading CFCW to numerous Station of the Year honours at the Canadian Country Music Association (CCMA) Awards, including claiming the recognition for a second year in a row and the fifth time in the last decade at the 2025 CCMA Awards earlier this month.
Greening, who is a past chair of CCMA, has been named CCMA Country Personality of the Year four times and received the organization’s Humanitarian Award for her dedication to helping countless artists build their careers. The Alberta Country Music Hall of Fame inductee was named to the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame as a builder in 2018.
A passionate volunteer and dedicated curler – who has represented her province at the Canadian Curling Championships at the Junior, Women’s and Senior Women’s levels – Greening is also an inductee of the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame in the builder category, received the Global Woman of Vision Award in 2007, and was granted an honorary doctorate from MacEwan University in 2022.
“Not having her on-air and in the office every day will be a huge loss for the station, but I know the foundation she’s built and the people she’s collected will carry on and continue to thrive,” added Marty Stevens, Retail Sales Manager & National Ag Specialist for Stingray’s Edmonton stations, who has worked alongside Greening since the early ’90s. “I’ve always said the worst part of working with Jackie Rae is trying to keep up with Jackie Rae.”
Greening was a guest on Broadcast Dialogue – The Podcast, alongside author and creative writer Jo-Anne Christensen, last year as CFCW celebrated its milestone 70th anniversary. Listen to that episode here:
