MBC relaunches Ontario stations acquired from Rogers Sports & Media

My Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) has announced the successful completion of its acquisition of 101.3 CKOT-FM and 107.3 CJDL-FM Tillsonburg, and 92.3 CJET-FM Smiths Falls from Rogers Sports & Media

With the deal finalized, MBC officially relaunched the stations Friday under Classic Rock brand 101.3 Giant FM (formerly Easy 101.3); New Country 107.3 (formerly 107.3 Country); and Classic Pop format 92.3 WOW FM (formerly JACK 92.3).

“These stations each have deep roots in their communities, and we’re proud to give them a new voice with formats that reflect the tastes and values of local listeners,” said MBC President Jon Pole, in a company announcement. “At MBC, we believe in giving more than we take — and we’re committed to investing in local radio, local news, and local people.”

The acquisition brings MBC’s station count in Ontario to 25. The company says it will be building new broadcast studios in both Tillsonburg and Smiths Falls in the coming months to support local programming, journalism, and community involvement, “reinforcing MBC’s belief in the power of hometown radio.” The stations will also be supported by digital news platforms, including the newly launched OXFORDtoday.ca.

“These new additions perfectly complement MBC’s existing stations and platforms, across the province. Our mission is simple,” added Pole. “Support the communities we serve, deliver great content, and help local businesses grow. We’re just getting started.”
