David Corey to join Marilyn Denis on CHUM 104.5 morning show

Veteran radio programmer David Corey will join Marilyn Denis as the new co-host of The Marilyn Denis Show on Toronto’s CHUM 104.5, starting Monday.

David Corey

Corey began his career at KISS 108 (WXKS-FM) Boston as a teenager where he ascended to the role of Assistant Program Director and Music Director, before joining Bell Media as VP of Radio Programming and Program Director of CHUM 104.6 in 2006. He held that role for over a decade before leaving for Beasley Media Group as Country Brand Manager and PD of Boston’s WKLB in 2017. He went on to serve as Director of FM Programming for Cumulus Media. He returned to Bell Media last September as a Radio Programming Management Consultant, under the banner of his own consulting company, David Corey Media.

“David is one of my favourite people in the world,” said Denis, in a Bell Media announcement. “I can’t wait to work with him again and spend time talking and laughing together every morning!”

“Returning to CHUM 104.5 is a dream come true, but to return as co-host of The Marilyn Denis Show is a true highlight of my career,” said Corey. “Marilyn became a best friend the moment I met her in 2006, and to sit next to her every weekday morning is the best way to start my day.”

Corey steps into the co-host role vacated by Jamar McNeil in June, when he joined Josie Dye on the CHUM 104.5 afternoon drive show. McNeil had been with the show for six years, arriving ahead of the retirement of Roger Ashby, Denis’ co-host of 30 years.

Luke Rodriguez, who had been sitting in with Denis on the morning show for the last four months, is destined for a new gig as Assistant Program Director for Bell Media London & Kitchener, where he’s also taken on afternoon announcer duties at 97.5 Virgin Radio (CIQM-FM) London. Rodriguez, the 2024 Allan Waters Young Broadcaster of the Year, was formerly APD and afternoon host on 104.9 Virgin Radio (CFMG-FM) Edmonton for the past two and a half years.
