MBC’s WLYK rebrands as 102.7 WOW FM

MBC (My Broadcasting Corporation) has rebranded WLYK Kingston, ON/Cape Vincent, NY retaining a Gold-based Adult Contemporary format, the station’s third incarnation since an ownership change last year.

102.7 WOW FM launched Wednesday, featuring hits from the ’80s and more, like Mr. Mister, Bangles, Yes, Huey Lewis & The News, and Billy Idol, in addition to hitmakers from the ’90s like NSYNC.

The station was last rebranded in March 2023 as “Kingston’s Feel-Good Station” 102.7 Lake FM, less than three weeks after launching as stunt format 102.7 The Pole, with a playlist inspired by strip club DJs. While licensed to Cape Vincent, NY, the station targets listeners in the Kingston market, with its dial position previously held by Rogers Sports & Media’s KiSS 102.7, prior to MBC co-founders Jon Pole and Andrew Dickson acquiring Border Broadcasting, which Rogers formerly held a 20% stake in.

In addition to Big G & Matty in the Morning, the station will continue to offer local Kingston news, and 401 traffic and weather together.

Alongside 102.7 WOW FM, MBC is awaiting CRTC approval to acquire CFLY-FM 98.3 (Move 98.3) and 98.9 CKLC-FM (Pure Country 99) from Bell Media

MBC says more programming announcements are forthcoming.
