Bell unveils next evolution of Fibe TV

Bell today announced the new evolution of Fibe TV, which leverages Google Android TV technology to provide customers with access to thousands of apps and also now includes voice remote powered by Google Assistant.

With access to more than 7,000 apps in the Google Play catalogue, including Crave, Netflix and Prime Video, customers will be able to use voice remote to search for shows and movies on Fibe TV and other streaming services that support this capability, explains a press release.

The new Fibe TV includes universal search capabilities so users don’t need to switch between different streaming apps. “The universal search function displays all results across Fibe TV and each of the supported subscribed streaming services,” the release says.

In addition, the new Fibe TV remote (above) has dedicated buttons for quickly accessing Crave, Netflix and Prime Video.

The updated Fibe TV service also has new Cloud PVR capabilities, allowing customers to record up to 10 shows at a time and to store content for up to a year.

The new Fibe TV features are now available for Bell’s residential customers in Ontario and Quebec.

We’re thrilled to introduce the next evolution of Fibe TV and how we’ve made the best TV service in Canada even better,” said Joel Orvis, vice-president of wireline products at Bell, in the press release.

“Canadians want more entertainment, and we’re making it easy for them to discover, search and access the content they love and explore new entertainment options. And the best part is that they can get it all in one place.”
