Online & Digital Media News – Sportsnet partners with Twitter on #OvertimeAlerts

Sportsnet has partnered with Twitter Canada to bring live Stanley Cup Playoffs action to the platform. #OvertimeAlerts will deliver a push notification to users when a playoff game goes into overtime. When a game goes to OT, fans will be able to watch the opening minutes of the period live on Twitter via the push notification. The broadcast will stream live from the  @Sportsnet Twitter account. Targeted to Canadians in Rogers service areas, Rogers will run pre-roll content as part of the livestream and prior to game highlights. Twitter says the NHL is the most-talked-about sports league on the platform in Canada with 65% of Canadian hockey fans saying Twitter is the social media platform they use to follow sports. During NHL games, as usage drops on all other social media platforms, Canadians spend more time on Twitter.
