Broadcast Tech & Engineering News – Powergold introduces update purpose-built for decentralized work

Powergold Music Scheduling has introduced the next incarnation of its software, Powergold NXT. Purpose-built to meet the evolving needs of broadcasters as the industry moves toward technology hubs and decentralized work, Powergold NXT is built on Microsoft SQL Server database technology. Allowing radio programming teams to use the software wherever they work, one of NXT’s features is Network Optimized Mode which automatically detects and compensates for poor networking performance, especially a slow or high-latency VPN/WAN connection. Powergold NXT also gives programmers more control over their music scheduling with rule optimization, schedule snapshots, element merge functions, music research imports, and an “undo” function back to any point in time, among other features.

Vizrt has released its real-time virtual enhancement solution for sports, Vizrt XR Venue. Featuring Viz Arena 5, the XR Venue solution empowers sports broadcasters to enhance content with state-of-the-art live AR graphics. With this release, XR Venue enters the IO platform, which offers more flexibility and scalability to produce either upstream at the venue or in a downstream workflow at the studio and a flexible choice of playout – fill & key or a composited video signal for specific production workflows.

The Western Association of Broadcast Engineers (WABE) 71st annual convention, being held virtually Nov. 3-4 is now open for registration. Featuring two days of online papers, virtual exhibits and networking opportunities, delegate registration is open until Thursday, Oct. 28. Learn more here.
