Dana Wigle appointed new GM of Toronto’s JAZZ.FM91

Dana Wigle is set to step into the role of General Manager at Toronto’s JAZZ.FM91 (CJRT-FM), starting Nov. 30.

Wigle was previously with the station from 2010-17, starting out as an account executive before moving into the role of Director, Advertising Sales. She left to return to Windsor, ON for family reasons. Wigle has also held sales and marketing positions with Rogers Communications, as well as AMC Theatres.

“I am absolutely delighted and excited to be back at JAZZ.FM91. It was hard to leave in 2017 and I have never lost my love for radio or for the very special JAZZ.FM91 community,” Wigle said, in the release announcing her appointment. “Being given the opportunity to lead the talented team at the station is a dream come true. I am looking forward to renewing old acquaintances with staff, donors, musicians, advertisers, listeners, and volunteers.”

Wigle succeeds Lorie Russell, who has held the position since March 2019, and announced her departure in September. Russell guided the not-for-profit station through a critical period following the ouster of its board of directors and senior management after employee allegations of a toxic work culture.

“We are very pleased that Dana is returning to JAZZ.FM91,” said Brian Hemming, Chair of JAZZ.FM91. “Her knowledge of the station and its stakeholders will make for a seamless transition. Lorie has been a dedicated leader, putting the station on a much firmer financial footing and positioning us to weather the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and adapt to changes taking place in the radio broadcast industry. We are confident Dana will keep us on that trajectory.”
