Shelby Thom

Shelby Thom has left CKNW NewsTalk 980 Vancouver to become the South Okanagan reporter for Global News, based in Penticton, BC. Thom had been with CKNW since 2014. She replaces Neetu Garcha, who has taken a mat leave position filling in for Global BC Vancouver Island VJ Kylie Stanton.  

Fiona Forbes

Vancouver television personality Fiona Forbes is joining Glacier Media Group as editor of the Living magazine brand, while continuing to host her two shows on Shaw TV, Where You Live and Up Front. Forbes will oversee both the recently redesigned North Shore Living magazine, and the soon-to-be-launched, West Side Living, which begins publication in April 2017.

Ricky Dee

A format flip at Rock 100.9 (CHXX-FM) has signalled the return of Ricky Dee to the CHOI-FM sister station. As of Jan. 30, Pop 100.9 will broadcast the best of the 70s, 80s and 90s. The full schedule is expected to be announced in the next few weeks.

David Kirton

980 CJME-AM Regina and 650 CKOM-AM Saskatoon, News Talk Sports, have launched a new afternoon line-up. Saskatchewan Afternoon with David Kirton runs from 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. Monday to Friday, replacing MainStreet With Jill Smith and Dave Arnold. The Green Zone with Jamie Nye the Sports Guy can be heard 3 p.m. – 6 p.m. on both radio stations. The changes went into effect Jan. 18.

Brad Hulme

Brad Hulme has joined Magic 106.1 (CIMJ-FM) Guelph, ON as program director & afternoon drive announcer. Hulme previously hosted the morning show and was assistant PD at KICX 91.7 FM, Sudbury.

Lara Fominoff

Lara Fominoff has joined Country 95.5 (CHLB-FM) Lethbridge and Lethbridge News Now as a reporter and anchor. Fominoff, who has previously anchored on CKNW NewsTalk 980 Vancouver, CJME/CKOM-AM Regina/Saskatoon, CJYR-AM Edson, and CFTK-TV Terrace, had been on hiatus from radio since 2014 and working in public relations.

Jay Thomson

Jay Thomson is the new CEO of Canadian Cable Systems Alliance, representing 115 independent cable, telco and IPTV companies, effective Feb. 1. Thomson is currently the VP of broadcasting policy & regulatory affairs for the Canadian Media Producers Association (CMPA).  He’s also a past president of the Canadian Association of Internet Providers and has held regulatory positions with the Canadian Association of Broadcasters, Telus and the Canadian Cable Television Association.
