Stingray has delayed Flow 93.5 (CFXJ-FM) Toronto’s transition to a syndicated morning show out of the U.S. amid demand for local information as the COVID-19 pandemic disrupts daily life for many Canadians.
The Breakfast Club, which originates from New York City hip-hop and R&B station, Power 105.1 (WWPR-FM), was set to start airing on Flow weekdays from 6 – 10 a.m, starting Mar. 16.
Steve Jones, Stingray’s SVP, Brands & Content, Radio, confirmed to Broadcast Dialogue that Peter Kash and Blake Carter will helm the morning show going forward until ongoing concerns around COVID-19 have passed.
“Peter Kash and Blake Carter, the previous morning team on Flow 93.5, have graciously agreed to delay their move to afternoons so that Flow can remain local during the COVID-19 crisis,” said Jones, in an email. “We will launch The Breakfast Club once the crisis has passed, and Blake & Peter will move to afternoons.”
“Blake & Peter have been total pros in this unique and uncharted situation,” added Jones.” Linx is handling afternoons in the interim. We will continue to evaluate the situation daily and launch The Breakfast Club at the appropriate time.”
